overview:

the isic lab at ubco led by dr. femke hoekstra aims to draw an innovated and curious appeal that excites students to get involved and see research go from paper into action on the ground in remote communities in canada.

OBJECTIVE:

THE OBJECTIVE FOR THIS PROJECT was to create a cohesive brand identity to promote engagement with implementation sciences in remote communities. The logo featured an abstract design of intertwined letters symbolizing collaboration and community. being our first collaborative project, the team produced a successful and chosen design, now used in UBC's Femke Research Lab, thanks to the combined efforts of dedicated collaborators

DESIGN DECISIONS

THE LOGO DESIGN FOR ISIC IS CENTRED AROUND THE LETTERS IN THE ABREVIATION I.S.I.C (IMPLEMENTATION SCIENCE AND ISOLATED COMMUNITIES) WHICH ARE INTERTWINED TO FORM A FLUID AND ABSTRACT SHAPE. AT IS CORE THE LOGO DEPICTS TWO FIGURES COMING TOGETHER SYMBOLIZING COLLABORATION AND COMMUNITY. THIS DESIGN DECISION WAS MADE TO REPRESENT THE CONNECTION BETWEEN ISOLATED COMMUNITIES AND THE SOLUTIONS PROVIDED BY IMPLEMENTATION SCIENCES.
